Archimedes was a popular Greek guy. He built blueprints for a number of cool ships thousands of years ago that featured innovative designs. Some ships were designed to lift enemy ships out of the water and crush them, while others were designed to carry people through the air.
If you want to bring Archimedes’ ships to life, then you should install the Archimedes’ Ships Mod for Minecraft. This mod adds a number of new ships and boats to your Minecraft world. All of these boats are based off designs supposedly created by the man himself, Archimedes.
There are more than just seafaring ships in this mod. There are also air balloons that will allow players to soar through the air. This mod doesn’t actually contain pre-built ships. Instead, players are expected to build ships themselves and then enhance those ships using a number of special blocks that have been added to the game.
First, to craft any of these ships, you’ll need to craft a Ship marker using the following recipe:
You’ll also want to craft a Measurement gauge, which consists of two functional indicators, including a compass that always points north and another indicator that shows the speed of the ship. That recipe is here:
Other important parts of your ship including the ‘floaters’, which are special lightweight blocks that reduce the weight of the ship. They’re not necessarily required to make your ship float, but the more lightweight blocks you have, the higher your ship will float on the water.
There’s also an air balloon recipe that is required for air ships. You will need approximately 40% of the blocks on your airship to be balloons in order to make sure your ship stays in the air.
Other important blocks include the Passenger Seat, which allows other players to ride on your ship, as well as a Shore Buffer.
To begin crafting a boat, simply start building like you would build anything in Minecraft. Then, add the blocks above as required and, as a finishing touch, add a ship marker. Once you right click the ship marker, that marker will turn into the pilot seat and officially christen your ship as a seafaring vessel (i.e. a moveable block).
Ships are steered using the movement keys and you can hit the brakes of your ship by pressing ‘C’, which causes the ship to come to a full stop. Ships don’t break when you hit something.
When piloting an air ship, you can press X and Z to raise and lower your ship. You can even land your airship in the water to pilot it like a boat before returning to the air.
Really, the best part about this mod is that users get to design your own ships. There really is no limit to the size of the ships you can build. If you want to build a massive airship that can cruise miles above the map, then you can do that. Or if you want to build a small, light seafaring vessel, you can do that too.
It’s up to you! download the Archimedes’ Ships mod today to check it out yourself.
