The Chocolate Quest mod is an ambitious quest to add fantasy-RPG elements to the Minecraft world. Minecraft may already be a pretty fantastical roleplaying game, but the Chocolate Quest mod adds a whole new range of challenges and activities for players, including new structures that spawn in certain biomes as well as a range of new enemies.
Dungeons are the most noticeable addition to Minecraft through the Chocolate Quest mod. Castles spawn throughout the world, while Ice Caves and Ice Castles spawn in snowy biomes. There are also deep jungle caves filled with complex twists and turns, while strongholds spawn in taiga biomes and are filled with powerful defensive structures.
My favorite new addition, however, is the massive volcano, which spawns in mountains and spews lava across the land. The effect can be truly spectacular and add quite the view to any landscape.
Underground, players will encounter new, pre-generated dungeons as well as entire new cities in the Nether.
Filling out all of these new structures are a range of new enemies, including human-like mobs that fulfill a number of basic duties, like:
A number of non-humanoid creatures have also been added to the game, including:
And once players have made their way past the hordes of mob listed above, their fight isn’t quite over, as they’ll have to make it through a powerful boss mob. Boss mobs include large and powerful spiders, necromancers, liches, king pirates, and a terrifying creature called the Exterminator.
Players can craft a number of new items to help them along their quest, including grappling hooks that can be shot over long distances or onto castle walls, as well as new weapons, like the revolver or magic staff. Bags can be used to carry all of the items players need to hold with them, while magic grenades can be thrown at enemies.
