Minecraft has a very basic combat system. If you don’t have any mods installed, Minecraft’s combat basically involves two enemies swinging swords at one another and bouncing back until one person gets the last swing.
If you’re fighting creepers and other unique enemies, then combat can get a little more interesting. But in most cases, it’s still a basic form of combat that grows old after the first few enemies. The Damage Indicators Mod doesn’t completely change Minecraft’s combat system, but it does make it a little more interesting by adding damage values to the UI after each attack.
With this mod installed, players learn exactly how much damage an enemy mob took after that last attack. The number value of that attack appears instantly above the enemy, and there’s even a neat little pop up effect.
The Hit Splash Damage Indicators Mod adds more than just damage numbers above the enemy; players can also see portraits of enemy mobs simply by placing their mouse cursor over the mobs. That portrait includes a picture of the enemy mob as well as its health and name. It’s not a huge change, but it helps players learn more about the enemies they’re facing.
The Damage Indicators Mod is simple but effective. It may not revolutionize Minecraft’s combat system, but it certainly makes it easier for players to see what’s happening in their fight against the enemy.
