Normally, Minecraft mods are made by amateur modders. They mod the game for the love of Minecraft, not for money. However, a recently released mod for Minecraft bucks that trend because it was made by a professional game studio.
Ubisoft’s Far Cry 3 mod for Minecraft includes a map and texture pack that allow players to experience a pixelated version of the Far Cry 3 world. Although Far Cry 3 is already receiving praise for its fantastic graphics, the Far Cry 3 mod for Minecraft is not quite as visually impressive. After all, Minecraft’s engine can only go so far.
The mod includes a map with several large islands. These islands include villages, temples, and other types of ruins. There are also improvements to the blocks, weapons, mobs, and tools in the game to give players a more Far Cry 3-like experience.
Although the mod isn’t large, it does provide some good entertainment value – particularly for Far Cry fans who can’t wait for the next game to be released. Ubisoft promises that the map includes over fifty different Easter Eggs, and players will have to do some exploring in order to find them all.
During their exploration, players will also encounter popular characters from Far Cry 3, including Vaas, Jason, and Citra. Although Ubisoft labeled the pack as a mod, it’s actually just a texture pack and a map pack, so don’t expect any major gameplay changes.
The goal of the mod is to give Minecraft players a teaser of the upcoming Far Cry 3 game. It functions as a basic introduction to the world of Far Cry 3 and its characters. So, if you’re looking for a way to experience Far Cry 3 before it ever gets released, then the Far Cry 3 mod for Minecraft is a great way to do that.
Oh, and for those who are wondering, Far Cry 3 will be released on December 4, 2012, for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
