The Diamond Minecart is a popular Minecraft YouTube channel where the hosts try to survive in a number of extreme environments. Over the years, the channel has built up a dedicated following of fans, but these fans have all been requesting one thing: a mod pack for all the cool mods seen in the videos. In order so spice up their videos, the team behind the Diamond Minecart have installed about 20 different mods. After seeing these mods in-game, players can’t wait to try them out, which is why the creators of Diamond Minecart finally got around to releasing a mod pack. That mod pack is called Diamond Dimensions. It includes all of the mods featured in the Diamond Minecart videos, including: -The Eternal Frost -Not Enough Items -Underground Biomes -Rei’s Minimaps -Battle Towers -Camping Mod -And many more Not all mods featured in the YouTube videos have been added to the mod pack – some are still awaiting approval, including: -Twilight Forest -Legend Gear For whatever reason, the creators of some mods are really averse to having their mods added to a mod pack. So if you want to get the full Diamond Minecart experience, you’ll have to download those last two mods on your own. Hyperion HD Texture Pack for Minecraft 1.5.2/1.6

This wonderful texture pack by Th0rkel on planetminecraft.com brings to life the beauty of the Minecraft universe with vivid colors and hyper realistic textures! That is why this is probably my favorite high resolution texture pack. While the colors of the texture pack can make any dirt house look good, the textures are a little TOO high resolution for me. I personally don’t like these types of textures because they drift too far away from my experiences and its cartoonish style in Minecraft that look too far away from vanilla. They are just ripped off shots from a camera and the Internet. Don’t get me wrong though, the textures do look pretty good but they are not for me. Another thing the artist does poorly is the [lack of] mob textures. There are literally no retextures for mob which makes it look very bad against photo realistic backgrounds. They are just plain old vanilla Minecraft textures. What the artist did very well in this texture pack is probably the weapons and armor. The swords in this texture pack look as if it were made from pure epicness! Have fun slicing down that skeleton or that other plain old vanilla mob that the artist didn’t bother to retexture. The armor in this texture pack looks like real chainmail to me and doesn’t really look that nice. However I did understand what the artist was trying to go for with this style of texture pack. While the armor might not look good for regular play, you might look like a cool knight or royal guard on a role playing adventure. One of the major drawbacks about this texture pack for me is the white lines that appear on some natural décor items like vines, plants, saplings, etc. It might make it a lot better if the artist could trim those parts off. It seems to take me out of my Minecraft experience during extensive play. Let me end off this texture pack review by simply saying that the artist worked hard and did a good job, but it's not for me but it may be for you. Fishing Craft Mod for Minecraft 1.5.2

Many people enjoy fishing as a hobby. Well, instead of fishing in the real world and catching real, edible fish, you can now catch virtual fish in the Minecraft world and eat those too. Thanks to the new Fishing Craft mod for Minecraft 1.5.2, any fishing-related activities are possible. Fishing Craft adds 12 new fish to the game, including: -Red bellied piranhas -Peacock bass -Goldfish -Pike -Bluefin tuna -Carp In order to catch these fish, players need to bait a line and drop it in the water. Bait includes fish morsels and frog eggs, and some bait can be collected from a new underwater weed block which now spawns in rivers and swamps. Catching fish isn’t as simple as you might think. Certain fish are only found in certain types of biomes and locations. Catfish are in shallow and shady areas of swamps but can be found everywhere during a rainy day, for example, while salmon can be found in nearly every river in the game. Meanwhile, larger fish like Yellowfin and Bluefin tuna can be found deep at sea. The mod includes two types of fishing rods – the wooden fishing rod and the reinforced fishing rod. Players also enter the crafting window to bait that rod. After catching a fish and eating it raw, players have a chance of catching a serious disease. Just like in real life, you should probably cook your fish before eating it. Cooked fish also unlocks full HP benefits. The mod is currently a work in progress, but it’s fully playable right now. Aurora Rubealis for Minecraft 1.5.2

Aurora Rubealis adds one of nature’s most beautiful effects to the Minecraft world. That’s right: you get to see Aurora Borealis, also known as the Northern Lights, in your Minecraft world for the very first time. The best part about the Aurora Rubealis mod is that it’s subtle. As the sun sets, the Aurora Borealis will become gradually brighter before eventually lighting up the whole sky. As the sun starts to rise, the aurora will slowly fade. Despite its fancy graphics, Aurora Rubealis has a minimal effect on in-game performance. Server load is also very minimal, which means that anybody should be able to install this mod regardless of the power of the rig. It’s also important to note that the Aurora Rubealis mod is realistic – you’re not going to see the Northern Lights if you’re in a jungle biome or other warm-weather, near-equator region. Instead, the aurora only spawns in cold, ‘northern’ regions of the game (i.e. biomes with snow). The creator of this mod, MrRube, put a fair bit of effort into making the aurora look its best. It’s easy to appreciate this effort every time you look up at the night sky thanks to the Aurora Rubealis mod for Minecraft 1.5.2.

Derivation Texture Pack For Minecraft 1.5/1.6

If you are looking for a beautiful looking texture pack that has a hit of an RPG element in it the Derivation Texture Pack by Levaunt on www.planetminecraft.com hits the spot! This 32x32 texture pack was inspired by new and old RPGs and was created with 100% pixel art according to the www.planetminecraft.com post. When I first saw the image of the texture pack online I instantly fell in love with the RPG style of the textures. Being an RPG game lover I knew that this was right for me. One of the other cool things about this texture pack is that it is compatible with several mods such as “Better Than Wolves” “Elemental Arrows” and “Simple Ores”. Many of players use these mods and it is nice the artists took a spin on them himself. One of the defining features about this texture pack for me is the mobs, and that is why I am going to review them first. The mobs just look downright creepy (I’m talking to you creeper!). The creepers look insanely detailed and missing an eye and the mouth droops to the left side, like it has a stroke or something. The skellies are also missing a lower jaw which probably fell off fighting you with an awesome looking diamond sword. Fighting an enderman is a little bit scarier considering the eyes scattered across its entire body. While other mobs are interesting take a look for yourself and download below or click HERE! The armor in this texture pack makes you look like a boss! As soon as you put on that fancy looking armor of yours you will be transformed into dark knight looking medieval thing that looks pretty menacing from a far distance. Other armors will make you look half robot while some might turn you into a masked assassin bent on killing a king. However you have to have the best equipment to kill that king, so how about an arsenal of vine covered wooden sticks and huge sharp diamond blades? The weapons in this texture pack have been re-textured to look like objects of mass murder! The edges on the golden sword look as if it would belong to the pirate monsters of the Nether! As far as blocks go in this texture pack, they take deep inspiration from the dungeons you would see in a RPG. The stone looks especially good when you go cave spelunking for long periods of time and normal textures are just too boring for your style. As far as building on a large scale such as a monument or big home you might want to consider otherwise, as they just don’t seem to fit my standard of building. I’m not saying they aren’t impressive however. They just seem a bit too RPG like for me. With that, that is all for that texture pack review. Minecraft Capes for Minecraft 1.5.2

For some bizarre reason, vanilla Minecraft has absolutely no capes. That’s a problem that one modder wanted to fix. So that’s exactly what cjz did with the Minecraft Capes mod. The Minecraft Capes mod adds the ability to wear capes into the game. The only restriction is that other people also need to have installed the mod in order to view the cape. The mod comes with a number of default capes. However, players can also use any of their own .jpg files as a cape and then upload that cape to an online account. Full details about the online account can be found in the official Minecraft capes forum thread, but the account is free and takes only 10 seconds to sign up. After creating the account, players can turn their capes on or off with a click of a checkbox. The account also allows you to create a new cape or choose a default .jpg from the gallery. Whether your friends use the Minecraft Capes mod or not, you’ll be able to see the cape as it billows behind you. And that’s what’s important.
