4J Studios launched Minecraft: PS3 Edition just over a week ago. In that short time period, our favorite game was able to attract over 500,000 players.
That’s right: in just over a week, over half a million gamers have tried out the Playstation 3 version of Minecraft. 4J Studios announced on Twitter that the game had reached the mark on December 26.
Meanwhile, 4J Studios’ other hit port game, Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition, has sold over 10 million copies just over a year after its release.
Clearly, the success of Minecraft is not limited solely to the PC and its wonderful selection of mods, texture packs, and tools.
What’s next for 4J Studios? The developer will continue upgrading the existing console versions of Minecraft, although the current priority is to release versions of Minecraft for the Xbox One and Playstation 4.
The latest rumors state that Minecraft: PS4 Edition, Minecraft: Xbox One Edition, and Minecraft: PS Vita Edition will all released during summer 2014, which means they could be released any time between the months of June 2014 and September 2014.
In any case, Minecraft ownership rates have never been higher no matter which console you’re using to enjoy the game.
