Aside from creepers, vanilla Minecraft isn’t a very scary game. The Herobrine Mod seeks to change that by adding some paranormal activity into the Minecraft world. The Herobrine Mod 1.6 awakens a strange new supernatural power in Minecraft called ‘Herobrine’.
Basically, Herobrine is a copy of the default player model with white eyes. Players will see him walking around the map and he will occasionally attack. In many cases, players will hear the unique Herobrine ‘scream’ then turn around to find Herobrine directly behind them.
Herobrine is more than just an NPC that deals damage. Sometimes, Herobrine will throw players up in the air, while other times, he will turn into a mob of deadly chickens.
To make the mod even creepier, Herobrine will even set up deadly traps for players. Players might find strange contraptions hidden around the map. There might be nether portals, for example, or totem poles with the player’s face on them.
Herobrine walks around very quickly, making it difficult for players to outrun him. He’ll also throw players around and cause frightening amounts of damage. Herobrine will also light the surrounding terrain on fire from time to time. In some cases, traps might even involve TNT and lava, giving Herobrine explosive capabilities.
Sometimes, players will hear the Herobrine scream, only to turn around and find a horde of white-eyed Herobrines staring at them. It’s a very creepy effect, and it turns every Minecraft adventure into a scary experience. Sometimes, Herobrine will attack multiple times in a minute, while other times, Herobrine won’t attack players for half-an-hour, only to scare players when they least expect it.
Herobrine also talks to players over the in-game chat feature. He’ll shout at players telling them to get out of the game. Sometimes, Herobrine will even speak backwards and say things like “Where is Notch?”
Every Herobrine sighting is accompanied by a unique jingle. This jingle will soon come to haunt player’s dreams, as it means Herobrine is nearby. It’s more of a scream than a jingle, and players might start to get post-traumatic stress disorder as they walk around the map. Suddenly, every sound in the Minecraft world is treated with suspicion.
