Magmatic Ironman V2 Skin

BlackFlash_IXI is back with yet another incredible Ironman skin.  This one is somehow even better than his last one, which already surpassed every skin he has made.  The Magmatic Ironman V2 is a masterpiece of shading and detail that is sure to blow your mind, whether you are an Ironman fan or not!

As with most of his skins, this is only loosely based off of Ironman.  It does not directly stem from one of Ironman’s suits.  And as always, most of the charm of this skin comes from his creative use of layering.  The magma appears to be actually glowing beneath the suit of armor due to the high contrast.  BlackFlash seems to have mastered this.

The texture on this skin is fairly impressive.  With a very limited number of pixels to work with, achieving any sort of texture can be difficult; however with this skin there is a sense of roughness, as if the armor was actually made out of volcanic rock.  This is certainly enhanced by the stark burning white hot eyes and cracks where the magma is showing through.  The shading is worked in appropriately through the texture and detail perfectly.

BlackFlash is awarded ten out of ten rich superheroes for this fantastic addition to a growing collection of power suits.

Installing the Skin

For online play, skins can be installed by simply uploading the file to your profile on Minecraft.net.  Skins posted on certain websites can be uploaded directly from their page, including this one; click on the button on the right-hand side labeled “change my skin” to be taken directly to the appropriate page.

For offline play only, the process is similar to installing mods:

  1. Download the skin’s .png file;

  2. Hold Windows key and press R to bring up the Run… dialog, or go to Start > Run.

  3. Type %appdata% and press enter, then navigate to roaming/.minecraft/versions.

  4. Open the folder containing the version you use for offline play and view the .jar file using WinRAR.

  5. Create a backup of the meta.inf file contained inside the .jar and store it in a separate folder.

  6. Navigate within the .jar file to assets/minecraft/textures/entity.

  7. Rename the image file titled “steve” to anything else (such as steve_backup).

  8. Change the name of your skin’s .png file to steve.png and insert it here.

Remember to keep your meta.inf and original steve texture backed up somewhere just in case.

Obviously, Ironman seems to be BlackFlash’s niche.  What type of suit would you like to see next?  Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
