Mariculture Mod for Minecraft 1.6.4/1.6.4/1.7.2/1.7.4/1.7.5

Mariculture is an epic mod that adds a wide variety of elements to Minecraft’s gameplay.  Its primary function, as described by user joshie, is to make exploring the depths of the ocean more interesting and…  Possible.  It is epic in the sense that it is a huge mod with much to explore; there are seven modules, each with a specific purpose.  This mod also was designed to work with Thermal Expansion and Tinker’s Construct.

The first “module” is the core of the mod.  It cannot be toggled off, for obvious reasons.  The core adds the following items and features:

  • Aluminum ore and ingots

  • Titanium ore and ingots

  • Copper ore and ingots*

  • Limestone

  • Oysters

  • Smelter

  • Freezer

  • Natural gas

*Copper by default does not spawn, since it already spawns via the companion mods.

The smelter is a new block that adds the ability to smelt ores into a purer form.  The freezer allows these melted ores to be cooled, doubling the total ingot production, among other things (such as turning water into ice).

The diving module provides exactly what you might suspect – diving equipment!  Diving suits, SCUBA suits, and air pumps are included in this mod.

The factory module adds the “auto dictionary” block which is an incredibly useful tool allowing you to convert one mod’s material to another’s (i.e. Mariculture’s aluminum to Tinker’s Construct’s aluminum).  It also adds a mechanized sponge to soak up water, customizable blocks, a flooding device, and pressurized water systems.

Fishing is also available through this mod via the fishery module.  Various types of bait and fish are available, with an automatic fishing device.  There are thirty types of fish in total.

The magic module adds enchanted jewelry to the mix, allowing for specific enchantments to be swapped out easily without changing equipment.

The transport module simply adds a speed boat, allowing for better and faster water travel.

And finally, the world module adds coral reef and kelp forests to the world generator.
