If you’re looking for a fun and creative survival map, then SkyCube could be the challenge you’re looking for. SkyCube takes place across 15 different islands. And as the name suggest, all of these islands are located in the sky, which means players have a limited number of resources with which to work.
If you’ve played SkyBlock, which is another popular Minecraft map, then you know what to expect from SkyCube. SkyCube seeks to improve on various areas of SkyBlock while maintaining the same ‘island in the sky’ gameplay experience.
SkyCube includes several different types of islands designed for between one to four players. Survival-style islands include:
And there are also a ‘challenge’ series of islands, with names like:
It isn’t difficult to guess what happens on each of those islands. Each one features unique challenges ranging from acrobatic parkour maneuvers to simply surviving on a small cube in the sky. Some maps are completely devoid of other living creatures, but others – like Battle Island – feature enemy mobs or animals.
Each map also has its own set of objectives for players to accomplish. Players are expected to make cow, pig, sheep, and chicken farms, for example, as well as grow various fruits and vegetables. They are also expected to make a bedroom, a nether portal, and other structures. A full list of challenges can be found in this forum thread.
If you want to see what the view is like from an island in the sky, then SkyCube can do that for you. It’s a challenging new gameplay experience that should provide players with a few solid hours of entertainment.
