Thermal Expansion Mod for Minecraft 1.6.4

This epic mod is a couple of years old, but it is a must-try for every Minecraft player.  Created by Team CoFH, Thermal Expansion is absolutely massive and features various elements that are used by many other mods by different developers.  Even if you’re not particularly interested in the mod itself, it may be useful to have it around just for compatibility.

First of all, the Redstone Flux energy system is a key component in this mod and serves as a fuel for mods like Mariculture, Tinkers Construct, Modular Power Suits, and many more.

The mod features many new machines that automate processes or provide new possibilities.  The powered furnace, for example, cooks faster, more efficiently, and uses the mod’s energy system instead of raw materials, meaning it will need to be filled less often and won’t waste resources:

The induction smelter is another item similar to a furnace, however this one functions as a way to smelt ore.  This also uses an energy system with more efficiency.  It does not function like a normal furnace – instead, it has the ability to double your metal ores by smelting them with sand.  Not a bad trade!

One of the most interesting additions in Thermal Expansion is the tesseract.  This contraption allows the transportation of materials to anywhere in the world.  The best part however is that it is capable of transporting items through dimensions – meaning that if you are mining glowstone in the Nether, you don’t have to escape to the portal in order to return it safely to your home base.

These are just some of the basic features of the mod.  It would take far too many pages to explain all of its features, so you’ll just have to try it out for yourself!
