Too Many Biomes Mod for Minecraft 1.6.4/1.7.2/1.7.4/1.7.5

Variety is the spice of life!  Modder fabricator77 brings to us a mod that is actually a collection of mods, adjusting and adding more biomes, villages, and structures.  Too Many Biomes is a great way to improve the general Minecraft experience without adjusting core gameplay or unbalancing the game!

The central focus of this mod is of course the new biomes.  Among the new areas to explore are:

  • Abandoned Gardens

  • Chemical Wastelands

  • Ice Pine Forest Plains

  • Pine Forest

  • Sand Dunes

  • Tropics

  • Wetlands

I find the Abandoned Gardens and Chemical Wastelands to be the most interesting:

Each biome of course comes with different blocks and unique properties – gardens, for example, may feature structures; Pine Forest biomes are abundant in mushrooms due to the heavy coverage of trees.

In the Too Many Villages portion, villages are made more stable, interesting, and useful:

  • The structure of villages is more sensible and cohesive;

  • Villages are made out of materials in the surrounding biome;

  • More variety in buildings;

  • Configurable village density across the world;

  • Visually distinct villagers who trade specific items: so far only two, the potion villager and the railway villager.

Finally, Too Many Structures is a simple yet highly useful portion to this mod that allows users to customize the rate at which huts, pyramids, and other structures appear in the world.  Additionally, it provides a method for players to add custom structures into the game that will spawn randomly.

Each mod also introduces some unique items or blocks, among which are a plethora of new flowers:

These flowers can be used to create dyes or the new Crystal Torch.  The developer has also stated that they will be used in future crafting recipes.  Bamboo, melt-resistant ice, and various blocks unique to different biomes have also been implemented.  Even more features are available if playing in 1.5.1 or 1.5.2, but even 1.6.4 is becoming rare these days – still, if you are interested, feel free to check out the Curse Forge page listed below.
