Rise of the Pigmen – like many maps – creates a totally unique universe and storyline inside the Minecraft world. Here’s how the Rise of the Pigmen story goes:
There’s a land called Terradona that has been peaceful for a long time. Although the land was conquered by the Teserald Empire thousands of years ago, the land has been peaceful ever since. However, it was only a matter of time before something bad happened. Mages created a portal to a hidden realm and unleashed dark evil onto the world.
For the first time in generations, Terradona knows what it’s like to experience war. And it’s up to you, a powerful character called the “magnificent stallion” to end the blight that has overtaken the land. Your quest begins at a small village called Riveraire.
The storyline and environment is similar to many fantasy games available today. Players can explore the open world and travel from one village to another on pathways. There are even signposts pointing the way between different villages.
The map is surprisingly detailed and filled with RPG-related treats. Players can buy houses in several of the cities and towns throughout the map. Quest givers offer main quests, side quests, and ‘extremely difficult quests’, all of which are indicate by differently colored exclamation marks over their heads.
A full list of towns and cities included in the Rise of the Pigmen map can be found in the map’s official forum thread here. Cities include modern cities like WinterHold as well as ancient historical villages like CoreVale.
There are also more unique-looking cities. A city called GoldHaven has been carved right out of the side of the mountain, for example, and the large SkyWarn city is found on a floating disk of earth suspended in the air. These unique cities result in some beautiful scenery as players travel around the world.
The map features some important rules players must follow in order to play the map the way it was intended. Players cannot break or place blocks unless specifically asked to on a quest. Players are also forbidden from taking items from chests that have a sign above them. Players must not lose any of the ‘nine keys’ at any time.
